Body found in Little Rock pond, reported by nearby hotel guests

Two out-of-town tipsters have called 911 Wednesday to report a human body in a pond behind the hotel where they were staying, authorities said.

Little Rock Police Department officers were overwhelmed by a foul odor of decomposition as they reached the pond behind the Holiday Inn, near Clinton National Airport.

  • The body was spotted 30 to 40 feet below a rim. The preliminary investigation identified the decedent as Treyvon Abernathy, a 21-year-old resident of Little Rock.

    Police released the witnesses after questioning. The manner of death was ruled a homicide, according to official reports.

    Little Rock detectives said that no suspects have been named in connection with the death.
