A Louisiana man was mauled to death by a family dog after jumping through the window into his relatives’ home on July 18.
The victims, identified only as a 66-year-old man, climbed into the home at the 8700 block of S. Claiborne Avenue at around 6:41 p.m.

The pit bull then attacked and mauled him to death. New Orleans Police declared him dead at the scene.
Owners of the house told detectives that the decedent was their relative and was not an intruder. He sustained mortal injuries to the arms, police said.
Blood belonging to the victim was covering the animal’s body upon police’s arrival. The Louisiana Society for Preventing the Cruelty to Animals seized the involved dog.
