A California Uber driver was repeatedly stabbed inside her vehicle last Tuesday and authorities said that a teenage girl carried the murder.
The 17-year-old stood before the court Friday and pleaded not guilty to charges of torturing and murdering Raquel Spohn Wehber.
The 58-year-old victim was found with numerous stab wounds inside her Nissan Altima off South Lanoitan Avenue.
Witnesses provided a description of the girl running away from the car. A trail of blood led officers to a backyard where she had been hiding.
“It’s an outrage, that’s what people,” the victim’s friend Beatrice Garcia said. “I mean it wasn’t one stab, it was multiple stabs, and I don’t know what happened, but whatever happened, she didn’t deserve to die that way.”
The juvenile who has not been publicly identified is slated to appear in court for a readiness hearing on July 20.
