Neighbors and relatives of a 28-year-old woman are in disbelief that the loving mom is currently being held as a person of interest in the unexplained deaths of her three children.
A family relative called 911 at around 12:45 p.m. Monday reporting three small children, less than 3 years of age, which were not breathing.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrived in the 600 block of South Ferris Avenue, East Las Angeles to find the dead children in a bedroom.
The decedents’ mom was arrested for questioning. The father was not home at the time of the incident.
“At this time it’s very preliminary in the investigation,” Lt. Chuck Calderaro said.
“We know the children were in a bedroom within the house. As far as cause of death, that’s unknown at this time and that’s under investigation.”
Local residents said that the family seemed happy with the 28-year-old mom always seen walking out the kids, the youngest being just 6-month-old.
“She was a good mother,” relative Arturo Cerezo said. “She didn’t have no problems with them. She seemed fine…I don’t know what really happened, what went through her mind.”
