Florida authorities said Wednesday that the son of former state Sen. Daphne Campbell has been fatally shot outside a North Miami-Dade apartment complex.
Jason Dwayne Campbell, 23, was shot once in the chest in the parking lot of the Monte Carlo Apartment Complex early Tuesday morning.
His mom, a former Florida senator and three-term house member confirmed the news on Facebook but was “too devastated” to publicly speak about it.

“I did not know a mother should bury a child, rather a child should bury their parents,” she wrote.
Authorities are looking for a suspicious woman caught on surveillance footage entering the building around the same time of the murder.
