An Ohio military veteran who served overseas had taken his life and those of his two small children and wife on Father’s Day.
A concerned relative getting no answer from the family called the police to request a welfare check.
“I don’t know what’s going on,” the relative reportedly told the dispatcher. “I know her husband has like PTSD from the military and he’s been having problems.”
Officers found the four bodies of Nicholas Mavrakis, 47; Lesley Mavrakis, 37; and their children Ace and Pippa aged 13 and 5.
All the victims sustained gunshot wounds. Authorities ruled the incident as a triple murder and suicide.
“This incident is being investigated as a domestic dispute that turned deadly,” a police statement said.
“At this time it is believed there are no other persons involved in this incident.”
The father was a retired staff sergeant until 2013. He served for 20 years and toured Afghanistan and Iraq.
Jackson Schools Superintendent Chris DiLoreto mourned the two children’s passing and expressed grief over the tragic loss.
“Ace Mavrakis was well-liked by faculty and staff at Jackson Memorial Middle School. He was a member of the Jackson High School ninth-grade football team.”
“Pippa Markavis was registered to start kindergarten at Strausser Elementary School in August.”
