New Jersey Police are investigating the tragic death of a 3-year-old boy who fell out of his room window into the jaws of the family’s dogs in the backyard.
The incident occurred outside an Elizabeth home Wednesday evening, at around 5:25 p.m. An hour later, the child was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Witnesses related how horrified the toddler’s mom was while pulling the dogs off the limp child.
“I didn’t sleep all night. My heart is broken. I didn’t sleep all night,” a neighbor said.
“I cannot believe this happened to a little 3-year-old. He’s a baby. Could be mine, could be somebody else. He’s a baby, and killed by dogs?”
She added: “I just hope that he didn’t suffer, you know what I mean? I hope he didn’t suffer, that it was quick.”
The involved canines belonged to the family and were fenced outside the residence when the tragedy took place.
Residents reported that the animals were aggressive and that the child plummeted right into their enclosure filled with feces and waste.
