Drive-by-shooting claims life of Connecticut mom cooking at home: ‘Absolutely tragic’

A Hartford woman was gunned down at her home Wednesday when stray bullets pierced through the walls as she cooked.

At least one bullet hit Sylvia Cordova as she prepared dinner for her family in the 28 Sisson Avenue apartment.

“Absolutely tragic,” Lt. Aaton Boisvert said. “For this to occur to a woman in the security of her home is tragic.”

  • Boisvert added that nine gunshots were fired from a car outside the 56-year-old victim’s first-floor residence.

    “There was no answer on the first floor. The officers observed that bullet damage was apparent on the first floor, so they made entry into the home to do a protective sweep.”

    Authorities confirmed that many witnesses came forward and offered to help identify a suspect.
