Alachua County news, Florida news.

Florida authorities said Friday that human remains found off Interstate-75 two days earlier were positively identified as slain Alachua County teen.

The aunts of 13-year-old Delia Young had already been arrested after they admitted to hiding her death in mid-May by claiming she had run away from the house.

Marian Williams, the 57-year-old guardian of Delia, told detectives that her sister Valerie Young, 52, had been brutally beaten the teen with an electric cord on May 15.

She insisted that only she and Young had the keys to the uninhabited property.
