An Idaho teen has died late last month after eating a dessert at a cheerleading banquet, her grieving parents said.
Reese Langer, was 13 years old when she passed on May 20, four days after attending a cheer event and eating a sweet.
The family said that Langer had been diagnosed with food allergies at a very young age and used to check product labels before eating anything.
“She was great about knowing what foods she couldn’t have and where those ingredients would likely be hiding,” a nonprofit launched in Reese legacy stated.
“We prayed for a miracle but in reality, we received that 13 years ago. And we were so very blessed to have this beautiful soul in our lives,” Reese’s mom said.
The family did not specify the dessert that sparked the deadly allergic reaction.
“I will always remember her for her sweet spirit, pure heart, and infectious smile,” family friend Tiffany McKee said.
“She lived life with a kindness and an innate ability to make people feel loved and included.”
