Alabama authorities asking for public’s help to identify woman’s body found ‘in advanced stages’ of decomposition

Authorities in Alabama are seeking the public’s help in identifying a heavily decomposed body of a woman they found near a Dale County bridge Thursday afternoon.

Police said that the grim discovery was made at around 1:30 p.m. near Woodham’s Bridge at the 8000 block of South County Road.

Remains of an unidentified female were “in advanced stages of decomposition” at the scene and county officials requested the FBI and the Dothan Police help.

  • The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery will conduct an autopsy to identify the deceased and her cause of death.

    “We ask the public to contact us if they saw a female in the area of Woodham’s Bridge within the last few weeks or if you have any information that may help us in the identification of the deceased,” Chief Deputy Mason Bynum said.
