Indiana Police arrests ‘extremely dangerous’ criminal who killed mom, 3 children in ‘very gruesome scene’

Indiana authorities have arrested an “armed and extremely dangerous” suspect who has killed a mother and her three toddlers inside their house last Wednesday morning.

A search warrant has been issued for Cohen Bennett Hancz-Barron, 21, in connection with the slayings.

“It’s a very gruesome scene in there,” Fort Wayne Police Sgt. Jeremy Webb announced Wednesday.

“There are three murdered children. We need the public’s help to track down this suspect.”

  • After nearly 24 hours of search, Hancz-Barron was found hiding at an apartment complex almost 115 miles from the crime scene.

    According to police, the victims and the suspect knew each other. The three siblings were “very young” and it was believed the killings occurred on June 2, between 5 and 6 a.m.

    “This is a very devastating time for our family. Please give us time to process the horrific events that have occurred today. Our daughter was a very special person to our family,” the late mother’s relatives said in a written statement obtained by WANE.

    “Please be respectful of our family’s privacy at this time.”
