Detroit news, Michigan news.

A Michigan boy is hailed a hero after he bravely protected his small siblings from two pit bull mixes that emerged from nowhere and charged at the kids.

12-year-old Deacon Ashmore stepped in between the animals and his two sisters, brother, and their friends as they played outside their home Monday afternoon.

Mom Elizabeth Ashmore said that it was a “fight-or-flight” moment for the sixth-grader who humbly commented: “I kinda held off the dogs a bit.”

The mom added: “He jumped in front of all the other kids and made sure they could run home really fast before the dogs got them. But he ended getting attacked.”

The Ethiopian native saw “guts coming out of his leg” as the dogs sank their teeth into his left calf.

A GoFundMe page has since been set to help cover Deacon’s medical bills.

“Deacon proved that Monday evening. His leg was mauled by a dog while playing outside with his siblings. Deacon stepped between the two dogs and his siblings so they could run to the house, but in doing so had his leg badly mangled.”

“Along with financial help Deacon can use your prayers for his spirits to stay up and his leg heals without complications.”
