Phoenix news, Arizona news.

Three small children were successfully removed from a Phoenix home where their mom’s body was found late Monday.

A tipster called 911 at around 7 p.m. after spotting a toddler crying on the porch of the Tides 19th apartment and appearing unattended.

“Trying to communicate to these children,” Sgt. Ann Justus said. “We’re trying to talk to them and have them go to the front door of the apartment, and we just weren’t able to get them to do that.”

Officers found 2 and 3-year-old kids inside the apartment in addition to a 4-week-old newborn. The kids were not harmed.

“Our hearts go out to those children. You hope they’re not old enough to remember, but even if they don’t remember the incident, their childhood is going to be surrounded by this incident.”

Shavone’s family described her as a loving mom-of-four, with her other child graduating from kindergarten Tuesday.

“She takes care of her kids, that’s what she posts on social media. Anyone that knows Shavone knows her kids.”
