A Florida mom-of-two has been shot and killed on Mother’s Day as she drove back home with a friend from a local mall.
Roxana Sanchez’s kids were planning to celebrate with their 36-year-old mom before she was followed into her driveway and assassinated.
Police released footage of the carjacking attempt that showed a light-colored sedan hunting Sanchez and her friend, who was unharmed, before a group of men surrounded their car.
“Two black males get out, approach the victims on both sides of the car, bang on the car telling them to get out,” Orange County Sheriff John said.
The incident ended with a shooting that left Sanchez dead. Her grieving husband said that he doesn’t know how to deal with the loss.
“She was gone way too soon. Especially on a glorious day. On Sunday, Mother’s Day, that we had plans, me and the boys,” Douglas Mejia said.
“And we woke up…’What are we going to do?’ That’s the question one of my sons asked me, the oldest. And I told him…’Let’s celebrate her, her memory.’”
