Car of missing Texas mom recovered from pond weeks after she texted children she was on way home

Texas authorities are working to identify a body found inside a submerged car belonging to a missing mom last seen alive on April 17.

Erica Hernandez went missing after dropping her three children at home telling them she was going to visit a friend.

At around 3 a.m., she texted the kids informing them she was five minutes away from home, but never arrived.

As identification of the human remains found inside the recovered vehicle proceeded, family members were still hoping Hernandez is not the decedent.

“We found her car, but we still need to keep going,” her sister said. “There’s no reason for her to be over here. I think somebody had to have made her go in this direction for whatever reason.”
