Body recovered from Mississippi River believed to be missing LSU student

The search for a missing LSU student has been called off Tuesday after the recovery of a human body from the Mississippi River.

After days of an intensive search that included horseback, aerial and K-9 units, a boater called 911 at around 11 a.m. Tuesday to report spotting a body near Milepost 137, in St. John the Baptist Parish.

“United Cajun Navy has called off the volunteer search for missing student Kori Gauthier due to severe weather moving into the area. We will update shortly on the confirmation that an unidentified body was found near Reserve, La. in St. John Parish.”
