New York authorities have concluded that a missing Buffalo State University sophomore had committed suicide at Niagara Falls and are now trying to recover her body.
Erie County District Attorney John Flynn announced at a Thursday news conference that 19-year-old Saniyya Dennis put an end to her life on April 25.
“It appears that this poor girl took her own life,” Flynn said. Yesterday afternoon, members of my office met with the family of Saniyya Dennis to provide an update on the investigation.”
He continued: “We believe that Saniyya traveled alone from the Buffalo State College campus by NFTA bus to Niagara Falls State Park where the evidence suggests that she took her own life during the early morning hours of Sunday, April 25.”
Investigators gathered enough evidence to conclude Dennis ended her life, including a testimony of her friends revealing she was planning suicide.
No foul play is suspected as Buffalo State Police and other departments are joining efforts to locate her body.
