New Jersey man fatally run over by intoxicated driver who came to pick up furniture he was listing for free

A tragic hit-and-run in Manchester Township, NJ has left a 69-year-old man dead Tuesday after he was run over by an intoxicated driver who came in a truck to pick up his furniture.

Jack Gotfried, 69, was killed when 62-year-old Kevin Noonan stopped by his house to pick up some furniture the victim was offering for free.

Police said that Noonan was attempting to park his truck but backed up “at a high rate of speed” without realizing that Gotfried was standing behind the truck.

  • Gotfried was pinned between Noonan’s vehicle and another car parked outside his home. The driver then sped off and did not tend to the victim following the crash.

    When police arrived, Gotfried was on the ground, unresponsive with “traumatic injuries to his lower extremities.” He was declared dead at a hospital.

    Noonan was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death and driving with a suspended license. His charges could be upgraded pending toxicology results.
