The daughter of Al Toon, New York Jets great Al Toon, had been fatally shot in a murder-suicide on Sunday, authorities said.
Molly Lillard’s husband reportedly killed her before turning the firearm on himself at their Scottsdale home.
A SWAT team responded to the shooting at around 10:45 p.m. to find Royce Lillard dead. Police said that the suicidal man had barricaded himself inside since 5 p.m.
The Lillards’ 8-month-old child was found inside the home unharmed. Authorities said that the infant is now being cared for by relatives.
Molly Lillard was a volleyball player at her high school in Wisconsin, and then at the University of Michigan.
Her father got drafted by the New York Jets after shining as a wide receiver at the University of Wisconsin. In eight years, he made it to the Pro Bowl three times.
