New York grave digger dies at bottom of grave when it collapsed on him, burying him alive

A New York grave digger was pronounced dead at around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday after the grave he was working on collapsed on him burying him alive.

42-year-old Rodwin Allicock was digging a 7-feet deep grave at Washington Memorial Park in Mount Sinai when the hole collapsed on him.

  • Coworkers tried as they could to dig him out but before they reached him, it was too late. What caused the grave to fall at him remains unclear.

    “Officers from the Suffolk County Police Emergency Service Section as well as Suffolk County Fire Rescue coordinators, representatives from the Suffolk County Department of Public Works, and members of the Middle Island Fire Department responded to the scene.”

    A friend posted a picture of the late cemetery worker and commented: “Sleep in peace Rodwin Allicock. You were a great coworker and a great guy!”
