A 25-year-old mechanic was crushed to death when an elevator fell down the shaft and hit him early Thursday.
Joseph Rosa was found dead at the Brooklyn building at around 9:30 a.m.
Authorities said that he was unconscious and unresponsive and later declared dead at a local hospital.
Investigation revealed that Rosa along with an injured coworker were “performing modernization work” on the elevator at the building located at 133 E. Clarke Place.
The victims’ employer, Champion Elevator Corp., said that the company will be cooperating with detectives during the probe.
“Our condolences go to the family,” the firm’s executive vice president Joseph Corrado said.
