Illinois authorities have launched a homicide investigation into the sudden death of a 7-year-old boy who had been found not breathing at his Oregon, Illinois family home early Wednesday.

Nathaniel Burton’s cause of death was not made public but the Lee County Coroner’s Office said that autopsy findings suggested he might be a homicide victim.

Police responded to Burton’s home over reports of a child not breathing and said that at least one person was performing CPR on the boy when they arrived.
