Girl, 5, wakes from weeks-long coma caused by DUI crash involving Kansas City Chiefs Assistant Coach

The 5-year-old girl who had been critically injured in a DUI crash in Super Bowl week has regained consciousness.

It was the first time Ariel opened her eyes since the February 4 crash that left her with brain bleeding and swelling and sent her to a deep coma.

The GoFundMe page posted the update but did not give further details regarding Ariel’s current condition.

    Ariel’s mom who has other kids to provide for has been jobless since the tragedy, having to care for her injured daughter as she layed in coma.

    No charges have been filed against Reid who admitted to DUI at the scene of the crash. The other injured child suffered a broken nose, concussion and is still “traumatized” according to the page.
