Philadelphia news, Pennsylvania news.

Police in Philadelphia came upon human body parts in the back of a U-Haul truck as they responded to reports of a burglary in the Somerton area early Thursday.

Officers arrived in Sanibel Street at around 9 a.m. and were alerted by a U-Haul truck that immediately drove away.

However, the truck driver didn’t plan to start a chase and pulled over at the intersection of Kelvin and Foster streets minutes later.

The driver and his passenger got out of the vehicle and did not try to run away, waiting for police to arrive.

“The vehicle pulled over, and as soon as the officers got out of the car, the driver of the U-Haul just came right out the door and said, ‘I don’t want anything to do with this. There’s a body in the back.”

Neighbors of the victim were saddened by his brutal death describing him as a kindhearted person who would offer jobs to people and feed animals.

“He raises bees. He has animals in the house. He’s never given anyone any trouble,” one said.
