Palm Beach news, Florida news.

A Florida woman is behind bars after she allegedly burned a young girl’s arm with a hot iron as she told her she no longer loved her.

Celie Placius, 43, was charged with one count of child abuse resulting in great bodily harm after police were alerted to the child’s injuries on April 24.

Employees at a daycare noticed a suspicious burn mark on the girl’s lower right forearm.

Police questioned Placius, whose exact relationship with the girl was not disclosed, about the burn, and she claimed the girl burned herself with the hot clothes iron when she briefly stepped away.

“Placius then used a hot clothes iron to burn [the victim’s] right forearm in two different places while stating, ‘I’m not your friend and I don’t love you anymore’ to [the victim],” the affidavit said.

“Placius later applied cream to the wound to make it better.”

Placius contradicted herself during police questioning. She reportedly insisted she had nothing to do with the incident.
