Body recovered from Georgia river 3 weeks after worker fell while painting overpass

Authorities in Georgia recovered the body of a worker who had been unaccounted for since falling into a river three weeks ago.

Jose Garcia Hernandez fell into the Ogeechee River while painting an overpass on Interstate 95, the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office said.

Search efforts were initiated by multiple agencies, but Hernandez’s body was not located until Thursday afternoon.

    Deputies located human remains beneath the dock. The body reportedly matched Hernandez’s description.

    The decedent’s family has been notified of the grim discovery. The remains will be taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab.
