A Mississippi family is mourning the loss of twin brothers who drowned while fishing at a local lake on Thursday.
Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said deputies responded to Lake Pushmatacha on the Choctaw Indian Reservation over reports of a drowning.
The victims, Jamarion and Camarion Grady, had been under water for a certain time before rescuers’ arrival.
Choctaw Fire and Police searched and recovered the victims, but the investigation was turned over to the sheriff’s office since the teens were non-tribal.
Jamarion was pronounced dead at the scene, while his brother died at a hospital on Sunday. Their deaths were ruled as “accidental drowning.”
Both were seniors at Philadelphia High School. The school district mourned the brothers’ loss on Facebook and posted their school portraits.
“Though Camarion and Jamarion were twins, they were their own people, each remarkable in their own right,” the post read.
“Camarion was the louder voice, the bigger laugh, the one always dancing, always talking, always reaching out to lift someone else up,”
“His bond with [Jamarion] was undeniable, and their absence leaves an impossible void, but we will honor them as individuals, because they each gave this world something uniquely beautiful.”
