Navy officer convicted of killing pregnant girlfriend after she refused to get abortion

A former Navy officer was found guilty of killing his pregnant girlfriend, whose body was found dumped along a road on July 21, 2022.

Raquiah Paulette King, 20, was shot to death by her boyfriend, Navy Lt. Junior Grade Emmanuel Dewayne Coble, after she refused to get an abortion.

The 27-year-old represented himself during most of his trial, giving an opening statement and cross-examining the witnesses.

  • “He used lots of delay tactics, continuances to keep this case going and drew it out so it took a lot to bring this case across the finish line,” Hanover Commonwealth’s Attorney Mackenzie Babichenko said.

    Coble eventually admitted to shooting King and dumping her body in a wooded area, but claimed it was an accident.

    “To know that that guy thought he was going to get away with it, it just feels good. It puts icing on the cake,” King’s brother said after the verdict.
