Hikers discover human body parts near Santee City trail

San Diego County authorities are conducting a homicide investigation after hikers stumbled upon decaying body parts near a trail in Santee City on Feb. 3.

In a press release, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the grisly discovery was made by a group of hikers “On February 3, 2021, just after 4:00 p.m.”

“Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 11000 block of Summit Avenue in the city of Santee,” the news release added.

    Meanwhile, officials are urging anyone with further information to contact the Homicide Unit at (858) 285-6330 or (858) 565-5200.

    “The Homicide Unit will coordinate with the Medical Examiner’s Office who will ultimately be responsible for identifying the remains and determining cause and manner of death.”
