Arizona authorities said that a loving mother had sacrificed her life when she continued clinging to a car driven by her baby son’s dad as he abducted him.
Brittany Martie was spotted hanging in a speeding car on Tuesday evening by several witnesses who then called the police.
The mom was loading her 10-month-old son Abel Maes into her vehicle when the baby’s father, Eric Maes, broke into the driver’s seat and sped away.
The 30-year-old woman held on to the car as it sped off in an attempt to stop the abduction but was ultimately thrown on the road, sustaining fatal wounds.
Martie was dead when arrived at a local hospital and an Amber Alert was issued for Abel.
At 1 a.m., the baby was found abandoned, authorities said without elaborating on his condition.
The suspect also abandoned Martie’s car and some witnesses reported seeing a man running while holding a child near Cactus Road, Phoenix.
Anyone with information regarding Maes’ whereabouts is asked to contact the police and consider him dangerous.
