A New York City man collapsed dead while leaving the Javits Center vaccination site early Sunday, nearly 25 minutes after he got the Covid-19 vaccine shot.
But the State health officials ruled out that the septuagenarian’s cause of death was a possible allergic reaction to the jab.
“I encourage all eligible New Yorkers to get vaccinated,” New York State Health Commissioner Howard Zucker said.
“On-site security and first responders were by his side within seconds, but sadly the man passed away a short time later at a hospital.”
Witnesses said that upon receiving the shot, the decedent did not display any kind of adverse effects.
They added that he collapsed around 25 minutes after receiving his vaccine while allergic reactions develop within the first 15 minutes following the inoculation.
“All the Covid-19 vaccines being used have gone through rigorous studies to ensure they are as safe as possible,” the CDC said.
“Systems that allow CDC to watch for safety issues are in place across the entire country.”
