The Kenosha shooting suspect Kyle Rittenhouse has reportedly fired the lawyer who helped raise money to pay his $2 million bond and set him free while awaiting trial.
Rittenhouse replaced John Pierce with Los Angeles, Attorney Robert Barnes, though his reasons for having given Pierce his cards remain unclear.
“John Pierce freed Kyle,” the discharged attorney posted on Twitter Thursday.
“John Pierce fought with every fiber of his being for Kyle. John Pierce wants nothing but for Kyle to be acquitted and live a healthy, happy life.”
“John Pierce is ferociously loyal to all of his clients, including all former clients. Mission accomplished.”
Rittenhouse was 17 when he fired an AR-15 rifle at three protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Aug. 25 following Jacob Blake’s police-involved death.
Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, were fatally wounded while Gaige Grosskreutz, 26, survived the ordeal.
Subsequently, Rittenhouse was arrested and charged with first-degree intentional homicide, attempted homicide, reckless homicide, and a slew of related charges.
He claimed that he acted in self-defense after being attacked by the victims who hit him in the head and neck with a baseball bat and skateboard.
But authorities said that they found no signs of injuries on Rittenhouse a part from superficial scratches on his arm.
