Illinois woman scalded sleeping boyfriend with boiling water, then posted recorded incident on Snapchat

Chicago news, Illinois news.

An Illinois woman has been busted in Mississippi weeks after burning her boyfriend with boiling water and hiding his car keys so he wouldn’t seek medical help.

No clear motive has been cited in connection with the horrid Jan. 2 assault that left Alexis Sykes’ victim watching on as his “skin falls off his arms.”

The 22-year-old poured the hot water at the sleeping man causing him third-degree burns from the face to the waist and hid his car keys.

She allegedly recorded the scalding incident and then posted it on Snapchat before fleeing to Mississippi where she was arrested on Jan. 19.

“Dousing a sleeping man with boiling water causing serious, painful injury, as alleged in this case, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

The victim remained at Loyola University Medical Center Burn Unit for two weeks, undergoing skin graft surgeries.

“This case was brought to resolution by the hard work and persistence of our detectives, who put the case together and were able to locate this offender who fled the state,” Roselle Police said.

Sykes is being held on a $500,000 bond facing aggravated battery by caustic substance and aggravated domestic battery charges.
