Man leaps to death from Hudson Yards Vessel after police named him suspect in San Antonio murder

A San Antonio woman was found dead at home on Friday afternoon and the suspect in her murder case jumped to his death from the Hudson Yards’ vessel on Monday, authorities said.

The 55-year-old victim was murdered inside her home along Highway 90 in San Antonio when police conducted a welfare check requested by her worried relatives.

“This case is open and the investigation ongoing,” the spokeswoman for the San Antonio Police said declining to confirm reports claiming the victim and suspect were relatives.

  • Franklin Washington, 21, was considered the main suspect in the murder case. Since 2019, he had been arrested multiple times for burglary, assault, marijuana possession, and served 144 days in jail.

    Shortly after being named a suspect in the case, Washington traveled to Manhattan where he jumped off the 150-foot Hudson Yards Vessel at around 11:45 a.m. Monday.

    He was the third person to commit suicide at the touristic attraction after a 24-year-old woman last month and a 19-year-old man in 2019.
