A Florida man said that he was acting in “self-defense” when he shot and killed his buddy as he threatened him with a pitchfork Friday night.
Volusia County Sheriff’s officers responded to the scene at around 8:30 p.m. outside a residence in Ormond Beach over reports of a shooting.
The gunman was at the scene holding the weapon and claimed that his friend, later identified as William Bay, 34, threatened him with a pitchfork amid an argument.
The suspect said that although Bay complied with his orders to let the pitchfork down, he still shot the friend when he “advanced toward him aggressively.”
The unidentified shooter said that he was afraid for himself and his wife who was inside the home when the incident took place.
Bay was declared dead at the scene. The shooter has not been charged as of Saturday as the investigation proceeded.
