Huge explosion in downtown Nashville damages buildings & terrorizes residents on Christmas morning

A huge explosion rocked buildings and businesses over a large area of downtown Nashville’s touristic scene early Friday morning.

Residents woke up at around 6:30 a.m. to a loud boom that left buildings shaking and shattered windows when a recreational vehicle exploded.

The area is home to many restaurants and shops but authorities said that no injuries were reported as residents were asked to stay away from the explosion scene.

  • Videos of flames and black smoke showed the impact of the huge blast that sent debris all around the area. Detectives told local reporters that the incident did not seem suspicious.

    A resident posted on Facebook footage depicting the damage to his house with water pouring down the ceiling and windows totally shattered to pieces.

    “All my windows, every single one of them got blown into the next room. If I had been standing there it would have been horrible,” Buck McCoy said as cries and alarms blared in the background.

    “It felt like a bomb. It was that big. There were about four cars on fire. I don’t know if it was so hot they just caught on fire, and the trees were all blown apart.”
