Cambridge Township news, Michigan news.

A frozen body that was identified as an elderly Michigan man was discovered last week by a United States Postal Service worker.

The employee called 911 just after 6:14 p.m. on Wednesday to report a frozen body in front of a Cambridge Township home in the 400 block of Knapp Road.

The 80-year-old was found frozen and lying in the driveway leading to his home. He appeared like he was leaving his car when he collapsed and froze to death.

Michigan State Police later identified the victim as Theodore Kokochak and said that he lived at the home with a person who was currently hospitalized.

“He was in a position where passers-by would have been unable to really see him unless they were really looking for him.”

Rothman added that foul play is not suspected and that the incident is being investigated as an accident.

The county’s medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine if health issues were involved in the sudden death.

“At this point, there’s no concern for any public safety issues or anything like that,” he said.
