Bradenton news, Florida news.

A Florida woman is in custody after the body of her boyfriend was discovered hidden in a trash can so that she would keep benefiting from his social security payouts.

Michelle Haney, 48, made a horrible mistake when she trusted the trash can that contained the body to a friend on Tuesday asking him not to open it.

“The guy holding this trash can said that he thought it was a container of personal items,” Police Spokesman Randy Warren said.

But the suspicious foul smell emanating from the 55-gallon bin led the friend to open it up and make the gruesome discovery.

The decedent was identified as Haney’s boyfriend, Christopher Leonard, 40.

Haney admitted that she found him dead two months ago at their residence and thought to hide his death to keep receiving his social security benefits.
