After an hour-long foot chase with police inside McCarran International Airport, a Las Vegas father was taken into custody for throwing his infant daughter from a second-floor terrace early Saturday morning amid a heated argument with his wife.
News outlets reported that the unidentified man lit the family apartment on fire and drove away. He was later apprehended following two-car crashes.
According to Metropolitan Police Department homicide Lt. Ray Spencer, the suspect’s wife called police saying that she found her 2-month-old daughter unresponsive in the parking lot after being “thrown off a balcony.”
The tot was rushed to St. Rose Hospital and Medical Center where she passed away.
The girl’s parents were disputing when her dad snatched her, “walked outside and threw the baby from the second story balcony onto the asphalt below,” Spencer said in a statement.
He then set the apartment ablaze, drove his car before hitting a man “directly in front of the apartment complex” and ran away.
The man got into a second crash near the airport where he was arrested for first-degree murder charges, police said.
