Moss Point authorities have responded Wednesday to the home of a Jackson County judge after someone asked for a welfare check.
When officers arrived at Sheila Osgood’s residence at around 11:30 a.m., no one answered. An hour later, they came upon a relative who told them he came to check on the 65-year-old woman.
Police forced their entry to the home where they discovered Osgood’s lifeless body on the floor with apparent stab wounds. As they proceeded to the scene, the victim’s son, 45-year-old Gregory Jackson Jr., charged at them with a large knife.
The suspect ignored police calls to drop his weapon and keep away prompting officers to shoot and kill him.
The mom and son lived together according to the police. The motive behind the incident remains unclear for the moment.
