The Canadian County Jail officials announced the sudden death of a female inmate who collapsed as she took a shower at the facility Sunday evening.
Lesley Hendrix was rushed to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Her actual cause of death remains a mystery.
Hendrix was awaiting trial since 2016 on murder after evidence showed that a 23-month-old girl she was babysitting died of blunt force trauma to the head.
The baby suffered brain bleeding and had severe bruising over her face and a swollen lip, according to her mom. She remained at the Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center for a few hours before she died on November 19, 2015.
An autopsy ruled that her death came as a result of evident abuse and the injuries she sustained had been inflicted while in the care of Hendrix.
The victim and her siblings were dropped by their mom at Hendrix’s home as usual before she sent a text message to the girl’s mom informing her of the tragedy.
Hendrix had allegedly been alone at the home where she lived with her husband and two children.
