Hurricane Delta left more than half a million people in Louisiana without power after making landfall Friday evening as a Category 2 hurricane.
“Delta has left hazards like flooded roads, downed power lines, and displaced wildlife in our communities that no one should take lightly,” Gov. John Bel Edwards said.
“Everyone needs to remain vigilant, continue to listen to local officials, and be safe.”
Delta hit the state land only 12 miles away from where Hurricane Laura has slammed into Louisiana last August.
Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter stated that many houses that were already damaged by Laura got flooding from Delta with no power across the entire city.
Delta will hit the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast by Monday morning after passing through Alabama and Georgia, according to forecasts.
