Hocking County news, Ohio news.

A 17-year-old Ohio boy had admitted his role in the tragic death of a 44-year-old photographer on Labor Day, 2019 after pushing a heavy log off a cliff at her.

As part of a plea deal, Jordan Buckley shakily pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter so his case would be transferred to juvenile court.

I understand that my actions that day have caused your family’s life to change,” the teen told his victim’s family at court.

“And my hope from all of this is to use this trauma to learn and live the rest of my life in a way that will honor Ms. Schafer. I would like to use this experience to prevent others from making a similar mistake.”

Victoria Schafer was killed when the 74-pound log dropped at her while she took pictures for a group of high school students. Investigators learned that two people were at the top of the cliff just before the tragedy.

Weeks later, a friend of the teens said that they told her about the murder, and said that they only wanted to be “funny.”
