A 37-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in the backyard of her Michigan home over the weekend and police arrested a man after he confessed to the slaying.
Local news outlets reported that police found Katie Elliott, a mom-of-6, dead at around 1 a.m. with several stab wounds in her entire body including in the back and chest.
They later arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with Elliott’s death but his identity was not publicly revealed.
According to officials, the suspect called 911 and admitted murdering the victim. Meanwhile, the motive of the killing remains unclear.
Elliott’s relatives have created a Facebook fundraising page so they could cover the charges of her funeral: “We are all hurt and at a loss for words.”
During an interview, the victim’s neighbors denied hearing disturbance or physical altercation coming from her Harper Woods house.
“I know she had younger kids and this is just crazy. I’m just sending my prayers to her kids and her family,” a family friend told reporters.
