A 34-year-old man is facing criminal charges for brutally abusing his girlfriend’s twin boy that ended by the death of one of them and left the other with multiple injuries including bruises, blood in his eyes, and fractures in his bones.

James Gibson faces first-degree child abuse after he aggressively assaulted Zion Reed, 13-month-old, whose bones were broken and his eyes were covered with blood.

Due to an ongoing homicide investigation, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has not considered Gibson responsible for the death of the tot’s twin, Zyaire Reed.

“It is important to note that the investigation into the homicide of Zaire Reed is not completed, and we are waiting to receive and review other work that we have requested in this case,” she mentioned.

“There is simply not much that prepares you for the allegations in this case for 13-month-old twin Zion Reed.”

On July 28, police were called to the twin’s family home where they lived with their mother and Gibson.

They were found with several injuries in the ears, lips as well as broken blood vessels in their eyes. Since the incident, the surviving child is struggling with the abuse complications.

Authorities have also arrested the children’s 30-year-old mom, Lisa Marie Reed for child abuse.
