Multivehicle crash leaves 4 dead, 2 critically injured in Long Island

Multiple fatalities have been reported by Nassau County authorities after a wrong-way crash involving several vehicles on Tuesday morning.

It occurred near Exit 29, Route 107 in Wantagh, North Massapequa, at around 5:10 a.m. when a Toyota sedan went west in the wrong way killing the driver and three out of four occupants.

The injured occupant was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center in serious condition.

Two SUVs and a motorcyclist were also involved in the multivehicle wreck. The motorcyclist was also hospitalized after being hit by debris. His injuries were not life-threatening.

The eastbound lanes were closed on the Southern State Parkway following the deadly crash. The incident remains under investigation.

Identities of the dead were not immediately revealed pending family notification.
