New York City news, New York news.

An 18-year-old New York City man has passed away after spending hours in critical condition fighting for his life following a horrific attack on Wednesday.

Winston Ortiz entered in a dispute with his murder at a fifth-floor apartment in Bronx before the assailant grabbed a knife and stabbed him several times, poured gasoline on him and lit him on fire.

Ortiz screamed for help until neighbors came and extinguished the flames. He was rushed in critical condition to Harlem Hospital where he remained until his death: “He fought hard for his life until he could no longer fight and passed away this evening,” Ortiz’s grieving aunt said.

A witness recalled hearing screams and rushing to the apartment: “I step outside. I saw flames. I thought the apartment was on flames. And when I go there, I saw a guy in flames all over his body. I got very scared.”
