Louisiana authorities are actively searching for a gunman who had opened fire at St. Mary’s Ocshner Hospital early Wednesday.
The gunman was identified as 41-year-old Taniel Cole. He is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall with a slender build. He shot a man he reportedly knew in the leg and threatened to shoot anyone who tries to stop him. He vanished following the shooting and SWAT officers are looking for him at and around the facility.
Spokesperson Cpl. Angie Whilhite said that detectives are “searching every nook and cranny of the building and that Cole is armed and dangerous” adding that there is a chance he might be outside the hospital. Residents are asked to shelter-in-place until further notice.
