Shreveport news, Louisiana news.

A 14-year-old Louisiana boy has managed to escape a room where he was locked since last March and asked neighbors for food prompting them to report the incident to local authorities.

30-year-old Kari Barber and 39-year-old Cassidy Dunn were arrested and charged with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and false imprisonment after they kept the teen jailed in the room for nearly five months and deprived him of food.

The victim was described by doctors and witnesses as extremely malnourished and was hospitalized in a stable condition. Shreveport Youth Services launched an investigation at the suspects’ home and learned about the confinement.

The relationship between the women and the boy wasn’t immediately disclosed.
